Harsimrat Badal challenges Congress and AAP to name one major project they brought to Bathinda

Bathinda, May 5, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Former union minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today challenged both the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments to name one major project they had brought to this constituency, saying “forget getting anything to this constituency, both the Congress and AAP have presided over the decay of civil amenities and utter neglect of rural areas”.

The Bathinda MP, who inaugurated the party’s office here at a function which was largely attended, said “I can proudly state that the former governments led by S Parkash Singh Badal made Bathinda a model parliamentary constituency.

Successive SAD governments not only presided over the establishment of the Refinery in this constituency but also the prestigious AIIMS and a Central University.

A cancer hospital was also opened as well as the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical University. Our government also established an airport in this city and augmented train services to Delhi and other places to improve connectivity”.

Mrs Badal said both the Congress and AAP governments had taken Bathinda back by decades. “The city, as well as the parliamentary constituency, is in a state of decay. The only “achievement” of the Congress government was closing down the Bathinda thermal plant.

The AAP government has neglected the city completely. The entire civic infrastructure is in a mess be it roads or sewerage facilities. Nothing has been done to tackle the problem of frequent flooding during rains even as residents are being denied basic facilities like street lighting”.

She also commented how the AAP government had even discriminated against the poorest of the poor by curtailing social benefits which were extended to them by the erstwhile SAD government.

While interacting with the people along with Bathinda assembly segment halka incharge Iqbal Singh Bubbli Dhillon, Mohit Gupta and Balbir Singh Birbehman, the Bathinda MP warned them to beware of the friendly match between the Congress and AAP.

“Both these parties have an alliance at the national level but are fighting separately in Punjab to befool voters”. She also urged the voters to assess the performances of both the Congress and AAP. “If both these parties have done nothing for you then they don’t deserve your votes”, she added.

Mrs Badal also asserted that the SAD would continue to stand with Punjabis and was committed to safeguarding the interests of the State. “This is why we have chosen to contest the parliamentary elections alone.

We did not want to compromise the rights of farmers who are still waiting for declaration of MSP as a legal right as promised by the central government and the Sikh community which was promised the release of “Bandi Singhs” on the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in 2019”. EOM
