The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara sManagement Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka has urged Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan to start a Centrally funded National Sikh University in Delhi.
In a letter written to HRD Minister, S. Kalka said that Sikhs residing worldwide wish to establish a National Sikh University in New Delhi which can impart education on history of Sikhs, Sikh Gurus, Sikh institutions and all other relevant Sikh literature.
S. Kalka said that there are already universities working for imparting education regarding Hindu and Muslim i.e. Banaras Hindu University and Aligarh Muslim University. Sikhs have genuine right to establish and run their own National Sikh University.
He said that a large number of members of Sikh community cannot afford private Institutes of higher learning. The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) offers us to establish our own university.
He urged him to issue requisite orders to set up a centrally funded a National Sikh University named after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji whose supreme sacrifice is nurtured by all the sections.
He expressed hope that Minister will act swiftly on this genuine demand of Sikh community and will direct to complete requisite formalities.
