Filmmaker Siddharth P Malhotra’s latest film ‘Maharaj’ is wreaking havoc on OTT ever since its release. Recently, the film became the second most trending film in India, while it made it to the list of top 10 films on OTT in 22 countries.
Celebrating the response to the film, Siddharth took to Instagram to pen an appreciation post in which he thanked producer Aditya Chopra.
“When there was no light and no one let me make ‘Hichki’, the only person who believed in me and the film was and is the genius and human being extraordinary Aditya Chopra.
Once again, he allowed me to tell a story that must be told and I’m glad is getting all the love in ‘Maharaj’.
Thank u is too small a word for the love and gratitude I’ll always have towards you Adi and team YRF,” he wrote.

The filmmaker also thanked the OTT platform for supporting the film “support during the toughest times perhaps any film would go through”. “You guys have stood by me and the film and still stand tall,” he added.

Maharaj, which marked the debut of Junaid Khan, marked Malhotra’s return to director’s chair helming ‘Hichki’. It is based on the 1862 court case known as ‘The Maharaj Libel Case’.
