Shortage of de-addiction pills at Govt de-addiction centers ploy to benefit pvt players: Meet Hayer

Chandigarh, July 17, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has blamed the drug mafia for the acute shortage of de-addiction pills at the government-run de-addiction (OAT) clinics, saying it involved a multi-crore scam under the protective patronage of the state government.

In a statement issued from party headquarters on Friday, youth leaders and party spokespersons, Meet Hayer and Rupinder Kaur Ruby (both MLAs) said that the shortage of de-addiction pills at the government-run de-addiction centers was due to the alleged collusion of state government with drug mafia, seeking a time-bound probe under the supervision of the High Court so that those behind the nexus could be brought to justice.

Meet Hair and Rupinder Kaur Ruby said that while on the one hand, drug addicts were crying for the daily pill at government-run OAT clinics, nn the other, taking advantage of their compulsion, the private drug de-addiction centers were charging 10 times more the expensive pills.

Meet Hayer said that under the protective patronage of the government, the powerful drug mafia was managing ‘home delivery’ of drugs through a well-organized network, adding the private de-addiction shops were selling the de-addiction pills 10 times the actual price .

Meet Hayer and Rupinder Kaur Ruby said that crores of tablets that had gone missing in the recent past involving private companies and the government, demanded the whole matter be investigated under the supervision of the High Court.
