The manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Bhagwant Singh Dhangera has written a letter to the mayor and commissioner of the Municipal Corporation (MC), Amritsar, to take necessary action regarding the encroachment by shopkeepers and cleanliness on the roads to Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib.
Sharing information in this regard, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) secretary Partap Singh said that Amritsar is the center of attraction for the people of the entire world because of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and a large number of devotees from the country and abroad pay obeisance here with devotion as well as visit the historical shrines located here.
He said that the condition of the roads leading to Sri Darbar Sahib Sahib is pathetic. From Sultanwind Gate to Bazar Kahiyan Wala, Mahana Singh Road, the passage is broken at several places and drains are flowing out on both sides.
He said that while there is a stench due to the poor condition of the roads, the Sangat (pilgrims) also face difficulty due to traffic jams. He said that due to the blockage of sewage on the roads leading to Sri Darbar Sahib, water stagnates in the markets, which causes serious problems for the pilgrims.
Partap Singh said that many letters have been written to the government and administration in the past also, but the government does not pay attention to this issue. He said that now a letter has been written by the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib to the mayor and commissioner of Amritsar MC to repair, and clean the roads leading to Sri Darbar Sahib as well as the sewage.
The SGPC secretary said that pilgrims come from all over the world to visit Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and the government should pay special attention to the roads leading to this Sikh shrine so that the pilgrims carry a good message.
