SGPC to start Sikh Mission in Ujjain, ongoing works at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Ghat to be expedited: Jagir Kaur

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) would set up a Sikh Mission at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Ghat, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to flourish the Sikh faith. Two days ago, the Sikh Sangat (community) of Ujjain met SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur at Indore during a religious congregation organised in the memory of late S. Gurdeep Singh Bhatia, former president of Madhya Pradesh (MP) Chhattisgarh (CG) Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha and briefed her about the ongoing works at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Ghat, Ujjain.

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur announced that a Sikh Mission would be set up at Ujjain through the Dharam Prachar Committee of the SGPC and pracharak jathas (preachers’ groups) would be sent to the area.

This Sikh Mission will work for flourishing the Sikh faith in Madhya Pradesh as well as in the nearby border areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

On this occasion the leaders of Ujjain Sikh community S. Surinder Singh, general secretary of MP CG Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, S. Harpal Singh Bhatia and other prominent personalities informed Bibi Jagir Kaur that the Sikhs in MP, CG and Maharashtra reached the pinnacle of success by working hard and following the teachings of the Sikh Gurus. They said that Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Ghat at Ujjain in the area is associated to the visit of first Guru Nanak Dev Ji is functioning under the management of the SGPC and maintained through Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar. They said that many works have been started at this place through Kar Sewa (voluntary service) which should be completed and a center of propagating the Sikh faith should be established here.

Bibi Jagir Kaur assured the Sikh leaders of Ujjain that soon the Sikh Mission would be activated here and an active Dharam Prachar campaign would be launched in the area by deputing preachers, raagi (one who sings Gurbani in raaga) and dhadi (balladeers) jathas.

Meanwhile, SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur was also invited by the Sangat of Ujjain for attending the Gurmat Samagam to be held on November 21 on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary.

On this occasion former SGPC President Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, SGPC member S. Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee member Bibi Ranjit Kaur, OSD to SGPC President Dr Amrik Singh Latifpur were also present.
