SGPC to establish contact with foreign educational institutions for better future of students: Jagir Kaur

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur today presided over a meeting of SGPC’s Education Committee to discuss the administrative and academic functions of the educational institutions run by the Sikh body.

It was decided in the meeting to update the libraries as per need of the time in all the schools and colleges of the SGPC, to coordinate with various companies for the employment of students and to establish contact with foreign educational institutions and universities for a better future of the students.

After the meeting, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that for a long time, SGPC has been playing a major role in flourishing the Sikh faith as well as the education.

“The schools and colleges of the SGPC have always made great achievements and worked for the betterment of the future of the students. In view of the current trend among the students to study abroad, contact will be established with the foreign colleges and universities to provide opportunities to the students to study abroad for higher education. At the same time the foreign students would also be able to take education in the colleges and universities of the SGPC

. The aim is to connect students with higher education and make them employable by specializing in their field”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

She said that the issue of employment of students is very important, therefore, SGPC will establish contact with the companies active in various fields to fill this gap.

She also said that the SGPC has always been making arrangements to impart moral and religious education to the students and it has been implemented as compulsory in the body’s educational institutions.

“SGPC’s every educational institution has been directed to organize daily religious classes as well as weekly and monthly functions so that the students can connect with the Sikh faith through their religious performances”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

During the meeting of the Education Committee, the issues of the educational institutions were also simplified and the work to be done were approved.

In the meeting, SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, additional secretary S. Sukhminder Singh, assistant secretary S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, chief secretary’s OSD S. Satbir Singh Dhami, assistant director education Principal Satwant Kaur, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, in-charge education S. Karaj Singh and others were present.
