Responding sharply to the questions raised on Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka, SGPC assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh said that S. Kalka is making political statements, whereas, the true fact is that SGPC not only does the work of Dharam Prachar (religious preaching) in Delhi but through its Sikh Missions in 13 states across the country.
He said the pracharak jathas (groups of preachers) deputed in all these Sikh Missions of SGPC organise events of religious preaching as per the sentiments of the Sangat in the states and the similar work is being done in Delhi too.
S. Kulwinder Singh said that the Delhi Sikh Mission has not been activated recently but it has been active for a very long time and playing diligent role in religious preaching in the Delhi region since its establishment. He questioned S. Kalka whether doing propagation of Sikh faith and making arrangements for the Sangat to pay obeisance at the Gurdwara Sahibs is a crime?
The SGPC officer said that it is the responsibility of the SGPC to do the work of Dharam Prachar in different states of India including Delhi and it is being constantly continued.
Regarding question of S. Kalka on non-attendance of SGPC President at the event organised at Delhi’s Red Fort as closing ceremony of 400th birth anniversary centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji, S. Kulwinder Singh said that on that day a concluding congregation was scheduled to be held at the birthplace of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji in Amritsar, due to which, it was not possible for SGPC President to visit Delhi. He said instead of opposing a large Panthak body, SGPC, S. Kalka should become supportive in the activities initiated by SGPC for preaching the Sikh faith in Delhi.
