Senior SAD leaders express faith in Sukhbir Badal, urge Dhindsa not to sabotage parent party

Chandigarh, December 18, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders today expressed full faith in the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal and urged Rajya Sabha mp Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa not to sabotage his parent party which had given him so much with unfounded allegations.

In a statement here, senior leaders S Balwinder Singh Bhundur, Jathedar Tota Singh and Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra said Mr Dhindsa knew very well that he was part of all decision making in the party both during the presidentship of S Parkash Singh Badal as well as S Sukhbir Singh Badal.

“We all know how much importance both Sardar Badal as well as the SAD President has given to all of us. No decision has been taken without our concurrence. In light of this it does not behove a senior leader like you to make any allegation against the party President and indulge in activities which will only serve to weaken the party”.

The leader said they felt now when the time had come for the senior leadership to repay the party which had given them so much over a period of decades including the last consecutive ten years it led the government in Punjab.

“Instead of doing this you are now trying to sow discord among Akali workers in league with disgruntled former SAD leaders who have self styled themselves at Taksalis. The SAD workers will not appreciate this because for them the party is above everything, particularly individual loyalty. The workers will never let any conspiracy to weaken the SAD succeed at any cost”.

The senior leaders also disclosed that S Sukhbir Singh Badal had been elected President of the SAD through a democratic process for the third time in a row. They said earlier also elections to the top post had been held in a similar fashion and Mr Dhindsa had supported the process.

Appealing to Mr Dhindsa not to do anything which will help the Congress party in its game plan to weaken the SAD and Sikh institutions, particularly the SGPC, the leaders said “we have all been together in the fight for Punjabi Suba, protection of our river waters as well as fight for protection of civil liberties during the Emergency unleashed by former PM Indira Gandhi.

We have stood hand in hand with S Parkash Singh Badal through thick and thin and resisted numerous attempts by the Congress party to end our existence. Today also Punjab needs a strong SAD to fight for the rights of people, be it the crisis in the farm sector due to the Congress government’s decision not to implement the complete farm loan waiver, refusal to implement schemes for youth including the ghar ghar naukari yojna and non implementation of schemes meant for Dalits and under privileged sections of society.

We also need to present a united front to ward off Congress goondaism and ensure justice to those being oppressed by the Congress party. Please side with Punjab and Punjabis during these difficult times and not take any step which will help anti-Punjab forces”, Mr Bhundur, Jathedar Tota Singh and Prof Chandumajra told Mr Dhindsa.
