SAD allegations unfounded, have always safeguarded interests of Depot holders: Ashu

Rejecting as baseless and unfounded the allegations levelled by Akali Dal, the food and supplies minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu here today asserted that Capt Amarinder Singh led Congress Government have always safeguard the interest of Depot Holders.

Reacting strongly to petty attempts made by a party which has been time and again rejected by the people of Punjab, Ashu said this had become a habit of Akali Dal to blame the government over false and fabricated issues.

Amongst the major demands raised by Depot Holders in wake of the ongoing covid-19 crisis, Ashu said that sanitizers masks and gloves have been provided to them. He also said that regarding other demands including insurance a meeting after consultation with depot holders has been called on May 11 2020 at 11 o’clock at Anaj Bhawan in Chandigarh.

He also said that after the tragic death of Depot holders brother Anil Mahajan in Kapurthala, he had issued strict directions to all district administrations of state to ensure stringent arrangements during distribution of wheat to avert any such incident in future besides directing the health department to ensure strict adherance of all social distancing and health protocols.

On the occasion, he also disclosed that Urad Dal being sent by NAFED under PMGKAY was of very inferior quality due to which some trucks of pulses have been returned and at some places pulses were being distributed after cleaning.

Daring Akali Dal, he said if they are really worried for depot holders they should take up the issue of unnecessary delay in supply of pulses and its low quality with centre.
