Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago: Navtej Singh Sohi Appointed as President for 2025

The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS), a leading non-profit dedicated to promoting Punjabi culture, language, and performing arts in the Chicagoland area, has announced the formation of its executive board for the year 2025. At the helm of this dynamic team is Navtej Singh Sohi, who has been named President of PCS for 2025.

Sohi, a long-time contributor and dedicated member of PCS, brings a wealth of leadership experience and cultural passion to the role. Over the years, he has served in numerous board positions and has been instrumental in introducing innovative Punjabi dance forms to the local community, including new Bhangra styles for both adults and children.

Navtej Sohi is currently serving as Director of Powertrain Engineering at International Motors (Traton), he holds more than 25 U.S. patents, has published 10+ technical journal papers and 40+ peer-reviewed SAE papers in the fields of powertrain systems, emission technologies, and vehicle controls.

He also serves as Chairman of North America’s Heavy Duty Charging Consortium (HDCC), addressing EV charging infrastructure for commercial vehicles.

Sohi’s contributions to the engineering field have earned him notable recognition, including the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award in 2017. His industry leadership includes roles as Co-Chair of SAE’s Sustainable Program Development Committee (SDPC), Executive Council Board member for SAE Commercial Vehicle Group, and member of North American Powertrain Committee since 2018.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Technical University in
India and a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Sohi and his family — wife Tanu Mangat and
children Mokham and Khem — have been active participants in PCS events and continue to
contribute to the community’s cultural enrichment.

“We have a dedicated team of PCS officials working hard to produce meaningful programs,”
said Sohi. “Our next major event, Rangla Punjab 2025, will be held on Saturday, April 26,
2025, at Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL. We’re excited to share our vibrant culture through this event and many others to come.”

PCS continues to celebrate Punjabi heritage through programs such as the Punjabi Arts
Drawing Competition, Punjabi Maa Boli Month, Graduation Night for Students, and its
participation in the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade, among many other initiatives.
