Punjab Speaker Sandhwan exhorts youth to adopt sports as integral part of life

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan today exhorted the youth to adopt at least one game as an integral part of life.

Distributing the prizes to the winning team of the 29th All India JP Atray Cricket Tournament at I S Bindra PCA Stadium Mohali was organised to commemorate the former DGP J P Atrey, the Speaker further said that victory or defeat should not matter against the strong spirit of sportsmanship.

He applauded the organisers and the son of the former DGP, Vivek Atrey former IAS for commemorating the great personality by promoting sports. He said that to defeat the menace of drugs the victory of sports on drugs is a must.

In this tournament, the Punjab Cricket Association Colts beat the Delhi Challengers Cricket team by 43  runs & Won the Title of the 29th All India JP Atray Cricket Tournament.

On this occasion Sh.Chandrasekhar ( IPS ), Vivek Atray ( Ex. IAS ) & Convenor of the tournament, Capt Sushil Kapoor, Organising Secretary, Dr H.K.Bali  & Tournament Organising Committee all members Harminder Bawa, Amarjit Kumar, Arun Kumar Boda, Gautam Sharma, Sh. Mahinder Singh, Sh. Subhash Mahajan, Varinder Chopra & Daljit Singh were also Present.

The Winning team Punjab Cricket Association Colts Cricket Team given Rs. 3 lakh with Glittering Trophy & Runners up team Delhi Challengers Cricket team got Rs.1.50 lacs Cash & Trophy.

The Best player of the Tournament was declared as Best bowler-Ayush Jamwal of Delhi Challengers with a total of claimed wickets in 5 matches.

Best Batsman-India under-19 World Cup Winning Player Harnoor Singh of Punjab Cricket Association Colts with a total of 300 runs in 5 matches.

Best All-rounder & Best player of the tournament -Lalit Yadav of Delhi Challengers Cricket team with a total of 228 runs & claimed 7 wickets in 5 matches.

Final match-Man of the Match-Sohraab Dhaliwal  of Punjab Cricket Association Colts ( Scored 74 runs & claimed 3 wickets,)

Best fielder-Shabaj Singh Sandhu of the Punjab Cricket Association Colts

Batting first PCA Colts scored 298 runs in 50 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Opener Harnoor Singh Scored 89 runs, Sohraab Dhaliwal Scored 74 not-out runs, Abhay Chaudhary Scored 52 runs & Shahbaaz Singh scored 27 runs.

for the bowling side Delhi Challengers bowler, Vikas Singh claimed 3 wickets, Vaibhav Arora claimed 2 wickets while Rishi Dhawan & Lalit Yadav both claimed 1-1 wicket.

Chasing the target of 298 runs but  Delhi Challengers Cricket Team 255 runs all out in 47.1 overs. Rishi Dhawan Scored brilliantly scored 76 runs, Mahipal Lomror scored 48 runs, Lalit Yadav scored 37 runs,  Shivam Sharma scored 33 runs & Shakir Habib scored 17 runs for the bowling side Sohraab Dhaliwal claimed 3 wickets while Sukhdeep Bajwa, Manish Sheoran & Harjas Singh all claimed 2-2 wickets. Kunwar Kuckreja claimed 1 wicket.
