To raise awareness among people belonging to Scheduled Castes about their rights, Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Shri Jasvir Singh Garhi today presided over a large awareness programme organized at village Ghudda.
On this occasion, Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi stated that the main objective of his visit was to make people aware of the life and struggles of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution. Speaking about Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, he said that if today equal opportunities are being ensured for Scheduled Castes, it is solely due to Baba Ambedkar’s contributions.
He further said that people are also being made aware of the functioning of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, the Indian Constitution and the rights, entitlements and social security provisions for the poor, oppressed, Scheduled Castes and backward classes under the laws of the country.
On this occasion, Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is consistently upholding ideology of Baba Sahib and working for welfare of all sections of society. He added that if anyone tries to disturb the atmosphere of Punjab, strict legal action will be ensured against them.
Chairman Garhi stated that he is continuously working for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, and if any incident of injustice against members of Scheduled Castes is reported from anywhere, he personally reaches the concerned area and ensures that the issue is resolved.
Among others present on the occasion were Dalit Sena State President Shri Gurtej Singh Jodhpuria, Vice Chairman of Punjab Scheduled Castes Land and Finance Corporation Shri Gurjant Singh Sivian, MLA Shri Amit Ratan, District Welfare Officer Shri Barinder, along with other officials, members, and a large number of people.
