In a swift and high-alert response to a series of bomb threats targeting the Golden Temple, Punjab Police have detained an unemployed software engineer, Shubham Dubey, from Faridabad. He is under investigation for allegedly sending emails threatening RDX attacks on the iconic Sikh shrine.
Addressing the media, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Bhullar confirmed that two FIRs have been registered, and the investigation is in an advanced stage. The suspect’s role is being thoroughly examined in connection with threat emails sent to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC)—the apex body managing Sikh religious affairs and the revered Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) in Amritsar.

Multiple Threats Spark Tight Security Measures
According to SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, the organization has received five bomb threats since July 14, causing serious concern. Following the alerts, security around the temple complex has been significantly intensified.
Bomb disposal squads, SGPC task force personnel, and additional police units have been deployed across the complex to ensure the safety of thousands of devotees and visitors. The local administration has been working round-the-clock to secure the site.
CM Mann Assures Full-Proof Security and Action

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), strongly condemned the threats and emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance approach towards anti-national and anti-social activities. After holding a high-level meeting with DGP Gaurav Yadav and other senior officials, he assured citizens that Punjab Police are fully alert and capable of handling such threats.
“We will not allow any compromise on the security of Punjab. All religious places are sacred and revered by us,” Mann wrote.
He also urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading rumours, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies during this critical time.
Speaker Sandhwan Condemns the Threat

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan also issued a strong statement, denouncing the bomb threats as attempts to disrupt communal harmony and spread fear among the people of Punjab.
“Terrorism has no religion, and those involved in such nefarious acts will be brought to justice,” he said.
The government has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding religious institutions, maintaining peace, and delivering strict punishment to perpetrators involved in any act of terror or religious disruption.
As the investigation continues, authorities have assured the public that every necessary measure is being taken to protect the sanctity and security of one of the holiest Sikh shrines.
