Punjab and Mizoram Child Rights Commissions Hold Meaningful Discussion During Study Visit

A delegation from the Mizoram State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) visited the office of the Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (PSCPCR) as part of a study tour aimed at strengthening systems for child protection and welfare.

The delegation included Sh. Jimmy Laltlanmawia, Chairperson, MSCPCR; Sh. Darthakunga, Member, MSCPCR and Sh. Lallianzuala Chawngthak, Superintendent, MSCPCR.

The delegation held a detailed and meaningful discussion with Ms. Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, PSCPCR and Mr. Gulbahar Singh Toor, Deputy Director, PSCPCR.
During the interaction, both Commissions discussed their working structures, administrative systems and best practices.

They exchanged ideas on child rights protection, grievance redressal mechanisms, coordination with stakeholders and effective policy implementation.

The Mizoram delegation appreciated the proactive initiatives undertaken by the Punjab Government and the Punjab Child Rights Commission, especially programmes like the Safe School Vahan Scheme and other child welfare measures. They expressed keen interest in adopting and implementing certain successful initiatives in Mizoram as well.

The delegation also extended a formal invitation to the Punjab Child Rights Commission to visit Mizoram for further knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.

Following the office meeting, the delegation visited Gur Asra Trust, Sector 78, Mohali, to observe grassroots initiatives and gain practical insights into child care and protection services.

Ms. Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said, “Such study visits help us learn from each other’s experiences and strengthen our systems. By sharing knowledge and working together, we can ensure better protection, dignity and overall development for every child.”

She added that the visit served as an important platform for mutual learning and cooperation, reinforcing the shared commitment of both State Commissions towards safeguarding and promoting the rights and welfare of children.
