Prof RS Gupta, a pioneer in Chemistry for competitive coaching, passes away in Bathinda

Prof. R.S. Gupta, pioneer in Chemistry for competitive coaching and a known Philanthropist passes away after a brief heart related illness this week.

He was survived by his wife, a retired District Education Officer, two daughters settled in Delhi and one son, Prof. Rajesh Gupta, a senior Mechanical Engineering, Professor at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda.

MRSPTU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu along with faculty and staff condoled the sad demise of Prof. Gupta expressed deep sorrow with the bereaved family, while paying homage to the departed soul.

Prof. R. S. Gupta died at the age of 84 years. During his long stint in education field, He served in Government Rajindra College, Bathinda for 27 years from 1965 to 1991 at various posts like as lecturer, HOD department of chemistry, vice principal, officiating principal. He also served as Principal Government College Muktsar, Patti and GTB Garh.

Prof. R.S. Gupta was a very popular teacher of Chemistry among non-medical and medical students. As per his students, no one can teach Organic chemistry better than him. His students reached the top of bureaucracy, administration, media, medical, engineering and corporate world. Three generations of many families were his students for the last 60 years at Bathinda.

This city became the star attraction for competitive coaching among students of neighbouring cities and states because of teachers like him.

Prof. Gupta, a very determined and enthusiastic individual remained busy teaching and helping needy students even after retirement.

He generously sponsored the expenses of studies of many poor and needy students in his lifetime, who became successful in life and considered him as a father figure. It’s the end of an era.

City Bathinda is paying its tributes to this great noble soul at his Bhog ceremony on May, 8 (Sunday) from 12 pm to 1pm at Lord Rama Hall, Grian Market, Bathinda .
