Politicians should stop war of words; support struggling farmers: Parminder Dhindsa

Chandigarh, December 3, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
On the war of words being waged by the politicians over the farmers’ agitation, senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic), MLA from Lehra and former Punjab Finance Minister S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa on Thursday said that it was not the time to politicize the agitation by rhetoric, but to stand on the streets in this cold season with the ‘annadatas’ for their rights.

He said that at such a time the political parties should focus on the farmers’ movement so that they could win this struggle; instead of just making statements.

S. Dhindsa said that the recent statements made by the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal regarding anti-farmer agricultural laws had come to light; which should not have been given in this hour of need.

He said that both Capt Amarinder Singh and Sukhbir Singh Badal were now playing light politics to hide their failures and if in real, they consider themselves as benefactors of the farmers, then they should give up the war of words and themselves join the agitation with the farmers at the grassroots level.

“By sitting in the offices and issuing statements would not benefit the farmers’ in their struggle but standing with them in their agitation and trying to put pressure on the centre government will; so that the anti-farmer agricultural laws could be repealed,” said S. Dhindsa.

He further said that everyone should take this fight forward by forgetting their differences as it was the time to unite and intensify the struggle. S. Dhindsa said that the party stands shoulder to shoulder with the farmers in every struggle and assists their agitation till the agricultural laws are repealed.
