PAU Alumnus Dr Lovreet Singh Shergill selected as Asstt Professor at Colarado State University of US

Dr Lovreet Singh Shergill, an alumnus of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has won laurels at international level by joining as Assistant Professor of Weed Science at Colorado State University (CSU), Colorado, USA.

He has earned his Ph.D. in Weed Science from the University of Adelaide, Australia (2016) following his M.S. in Agronomy from PAU, India (2010). Previously, he has served as Assistant Professor of Weed Science at Montana State University.

His specialized research areas included weed biology and ecology, contributing to his understanding of integrated weed management strategies.

During his doctoral studies, Dr Shergill focused on understanding herbicide resistance and the development of weed management strategies. He further enriched his expertise through postdoctoral research at the USDA-ARS and the University of Missouri.

Dr Shergill is currently serving as committee member in advisory board of MS student in the Department of Agronomy.

At CSU, Dr Shergill will continue exploring crop-weed dynamics and developing a research program focused on weed management strategies tailored to the region’s crops and cropping systems.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of PAU, congratulated Dr Shergill for this significant achievement and continued success.

“PAU is proud of its alumnus and looks forward to collaboration with CSU to address weed management challenges and make significant contributions to weed science, shaping agricultural sustainability and enhancing weed management practices for agricultural community,” he added.

Dr MIS Gill, Dean Post Graduate Studies, and Dr Hari Ram, Head, Department of Agronomy, PAU, also hailed Dr Shergill and believed that good collaborative research efforts will be undertaken in the future as well.
