Need to use Ayurveda to treat diseases and decrease death rate: Punjab Health Minister Jouramajra

Dhanwantry Day which has been declared as National Ayurveda Day by Govt. of India, 7th such National Ayurveda Day was celebrated by Board of Ayurvedic & Unani Systems of Medicine in association with Punjab State Faculty of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine, Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur, Director of Ayurveda at Rattan Professional Educational College, Mohali. Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education & Elections S. Chetan Singh Jouramajra attended the function as Chief Guest.

During his address Health Minister deliberated of the problem of spurious dietary substances particularly milk & cereals and how they are injurious to health. He stressed upon crop diversification for availability of better quality fruits & vegetables. He told that this Govt. in addition to bringing funds from the Center, State would also sanction funds for the betterment of not only Ayurveda but for all systems of medicine in the State and every penny such brought will be spent transparently for the Public benefit.

Dr. Rakesh Sharma, President Board of Ethics & Registration, National Commission of India , Govt of India, New Delhi was also present at this occasion. In addition to them, Dr. Avnish Kumar, Director Research & Medical Education. Dr. Puneet Girdhar, Joint Director Dental Medical Education & Research, Vaidya Anil Bhardwaj, Vice Chaiman, Board of Ayurvedic & Unani Systems of Medicine, Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal, B.R. Medical College, Mohali, Dr. Shashi Bhushan, Director of Ayurveda, Sh. Sunder Lal, Chairman, Rattan Professional Educational College, Mohali were also present. Ayurvedic Medical Officers of the State, private Ayurvedic practioners, teachers & students of various Ayurvedic Colleges also attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sanjeev Goyal welcomed all the dignitaries & told about the idea of Rashitrya Ayurveda Day & it’s this year’s theme ” Har Din Har Ghar Ayurveda” and stressed upon the use of Ayurvedic System for maintenance of positive health.

Dr. Rakesh Sharma who also worked as Director Ayurveda, Punjab before joining as President of NCISM told about the status of the unspent funds lying pending in State Health Societies, AYUSH, Ayurveda & State treasury & requested Cabinet Minister to direct the concerned authorities to get the process of utilisation of these funds, speedy, so that other funds may also be brought from the Ministry of AYUSH. He also requested to establish an Ayurvedic College in the campus of Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur. He deliberated various health promotive, disease preventive & curative aspects of Ayurveda in the daily life.

Dr. Bhavneet Bharti stressed upon the integration of all systems of medicine or the betterment of public at large.

Health Minister honoured thirteen Ayurvedic Practioners namely Dr. Shashi Bhushan, Dr. Sanjeev Sood, Dr. Kamal Bharti, Dr. Ranbir Singh Kang, Dr. Maninder Kaur Meenu Gandhi, Dr, Subhash Chander Nagpal, Dr. Anu Sharda, Dr. Raghuvir Singh, Dr. Hemant Kumar, Dr. Rupinderpreet Singh, Dr. Yadvinder Kaur, Dr. Parveen Kumar & Sh. Satish Kumar with Dhanwantry Awards who have served Ayurveda with the dedicated efforts for years along.

In the end, Dr. Avnish Kumar thanked all dignitries and deligates for attending the function.
