To protect the rights of the Scheduled Caste employees as well to ensure their welfare within the organization, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Thursday held a review meeting with the management of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at Mumbai.

The NCSC delegation, led by its Chairman Vijay Sampla, first conducted the meeting with All India Hindustan Petroleum SC/ST Employees welfare association. During the meeting, its president Neha Takpire and general secretary Nitin B Wakode apprised Sampla and NCSC officials about the issues being faced by the HPCL employees within the organization.

The officials of employees’ welfare association requested Sampla to ask HPCL management to ensure that 25% seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates in each training program, including the foreign training programs, and to strictly adhere to the training guidelines.

“Also, management should provide the working arrangements to the association and should ensure the association’s participation in various HR and IR policy making processes of the organisation. The management should also provide some office space to the association”, the association members further requested Sampla.

Post lunch, NCSC held the official meeting with the management of the HPCL, led by its chairman and managing director Pushp Kumar Joshi. NCSC chairman Sampla reviewed the status of SC reservations, backlog vacancies, and functioning of welfare and grievances redressal mechanism and other issues.
