Nawanshahr Congress MLA Angad Singh donates a years’ salary for flood victims

Exhibiting noble gesture towards the flood victims, the young MLA from Nawanshahr, Angad Singh, today, donated one year’s salary for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the victims of the floods in the state.

While handing over the cheque to the Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Bublani, at Nawanshahr today, he said that with the Punjab was the land of the Great Gurus, who had taught us to help the poor, needy and distressed people.

Following the teachings of the Great Gurus as well as the glorious tradition of the Punjabis, who had always been at the forefront to help the people in distress without any discrimination, he had humbly been contributing a little bit to further the tradition.

Exhorting the NGOs and people from all walks of life to come forward to help to accelerate the rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations currently underway in the different parts of the state, the MLA said that the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh had not only himself come to the ground Zero to stand by with the flood victims but he had also taken a farsighted decision to canalise the river Satlej on pattern with the canals to provide a permanent relief to the people residing in the vicinity of the Satlej river.

Expressing his concern for the huge loss of crops, houses, live stock due to the recent floods, Angad said that the state government would conduct comprehensive survey and was committed to provide the due compensation to the concerned people.
