National Gatka Training Summit–2026 Organised in Chandigarh

The National Gatka Training Summit–2026 was successfully organized on January 4 at Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 22-D, Chandigarh.

The summit was organized by the Chandigarh Gatka Association (Regd.) in association with the Chandigarh Gurdwara Asthapan Committee (CGAC), with the objective of strengthening training standards and promoting policy-level development of the traditional Sikh martial art, Gatka.

The summit witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the region, with 20 Gatka coaches, 100 players, and 20 officials taking part in the event. The gathering reflected the growing interest and commitment towards preserving and professionalizing Gatka at the national level.

Renowned International Gatka Coach S. Inderjodh Singh (Canada) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he blessed the players, coaches, and officials and shared valuable insights into the future roadmap of Gatka. He also informed the audience about several upcoming mega Gatka events planned in India, emphasizing international exposure and structured training.

General Secretary, Chandigarh Gatka Association, S. Simranjit Singh (Chandigarh) & Vice President S. Rajdeep Singh (Chandigarh)highlighted the journey of CGA and informed that the association will be celebrating its 15 years of service this year. As part of the celebrations, CGA plans to open more than 10 new Gatka training centres across the Tricity, aimed at nurturing grassroots talent and providing systematic coaching.

Chairman, Chandigarh Gatka Association and General Secretary, CGAC, S. Gurjot Singh Sawhney also addressed the gathering and extended his blessings to the participants. He assured full support from the association and the committee for the promotion and expansion of Sikh Martial Art Gatka throughout the country.

Several prominent Gatka personalities and dignitaries were present at the summit, including Ramanpreet Singh Shanty (Tanda), Maninder Singh (Chandigarh), Mandeep Singh Dhindhsa (President, Miri Piri Seva Society, Garna Sahib), Karnail Singh (Principal, Haryana Education Department), Mandeep Singh (Derabassi), Inderjeet Singh (Chandigarh), Gurjinder Singh (Chandigarh), Kulwinder Singh (Tanda), Sandeep Singh (Rajpura), Husanpreet Kaur (Mansa), Charanjeet Kaur (Mohali), Rajdeep Singh (Chandigarh), and Tejinderpal Singh Teji (Zirakpur).

The summit concluded on a positive note with a collective resolve to further strengthen training methodologies, promote Gatka among youth, and uphold the rich martial heritage of Sikhism.
