Jalandhar Police books 60 people for obstructing cremation of Corona victim

In a strict action, the Commissionerate Police have booked 60 unidentified people for obstructing the administration from performing last rites of a Corona patient in Harnamdass Pura locality.

Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that these perpetrators, who are being identified in the probe, have been booked under sections 188,269,270,271, 353, 186, 149 of IPC, section 3 of Epidemic Disease Act 1893 and section 51 of Disaster Management Act, 1996. He said that no one would be allowed to take law in their own hand and strict action would be taken against those who defy the norms. Mr Bhullar said that all the culprits would be identified and put behind the bars for the crime.

The Commissioner of Police Mr Gupreet Singh Bhullar said that a team of senior police officials has been formed to identify those who disturbed the administration in performing the cremation of the corona patient in Harnamdass Pura locality on Thursday.

Mr Bhullar said that the gathering of such number people may increase the risk of disease and told that these people would be arrested soon. He said that the curfew has been imposed for the betterment of people so that the spread of Covid 19 could be checked effectively.

Commissioner of Police said that a viable mechanism has been put in place for the entire security arrangements and sectoral officers from Police have been deployed. He said that every effort would be made to maintain law and order in the city.

Mr Bhullar further said that besides them, Vikram Bhalla of Jaimal Nagar, Saurav Handa of Ali Mohalla, Baldev Singh of Pholriwal, Ranjeet Singh of Khambra Colony, Narinder Singh of Lohara, Sarbjeet of Pholriwal, Jatinder and Mantosh of Chetiwani and Sandeep Kumar of New Dashmesh Nagar have been arrested for defying the curfew orders.
