Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of SGPC member and former minister Jathedar Sewa Singh Sekhwan.
Recalling the services of Jathedar Sekhwan, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that he was a long time member of the SGPC, a representative religious body of the Sikh Panth and was instrumental in the Panthic management of Guru’s houses (Gurdwara Sahibs).
She said that S. Sekhwan while serving in the Shiromani Akali Dal, also made significant contributions to the struggle for the interests of the Punjab.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Jathedar Sewa Singh Sekhwan was a Panthic leader whose demise is an unbearable loss. She expressed condolences to the family of Jathedar Sekhwan and prayed for peace for the departed soul.
Meanwhile, SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, general secretary Advocate S. Bhagwant Singh Sialka and chief secretary Advocate S. Harjinder Singh Dhami also expressed their condolences on the demise of Jathedar Sewa Singh Sekhwan.
