Indian Diaspora condemns rape of 2 Hindu sisters in Pakistan

US Based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) strongly condemned the alleged rape of two teenage Hindu sisters by two men in Pakistan’s Punjab province. This was disclosed here by Satnam Singh Chahal executive director in a press release issued here today.

Chahal said that Minorities in Pakistan are not safe and they are living under the shadow of fear and insecurity. He said that attack on minorities are happening daily in one or the other corner of Pakistan.

Chahal further said that the Victim two sisters, aged 16 and 17, left their house in Bahawalnagar, Fort Abbas, some 300 km from Lahore on the morning of June 5 to attend the nature’s call in a nearby field when two men allegedly held them at gun point and the alleged men were identified as Umair Ashfaq and Kashif Ali who allegedly raped them and fled the scene.

Chahal further said that although Police registered the case after a three-day delay as some influential people of the area reportedly wanted to settle the matter with the victims’ family amicably but in spite of this attack on minorities can not be stopped due to political well power. When One suspected rapist Kashif reportedly who belongs to an influential family of the area then a Justice can not be delivered to the victim.

NAPA urged the East Punjab Government to ensure the security of lives and properties of minorities living in Pakistan and organization also assured the two sisters and their families the whole community stand with them in this hour of grief and express their solidarity with the family.
