Haryana Police has busted an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) fraudsters gang with the arrest of three accused in Palwal district. Police has also recovered 91 ATM cards and a Paytm swipe machine from their possession.
Disclosing this here today, the Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused have been identified as Saleem, Abbas and Rashid, all residents of Palwal district. These fraudsters used to change the ATM of innocent people during cash withdrawal and then commit the crime.
On July 13, 2022, Ranjeet Singh of Krishna Colony had lodged a complaint that when he went to withdraw Rs 5000 cash from an ATM of a nationalized bank, three persons already present there dodged him and replaced his ATM card with another. Later, they withdrew Rs 80,000 from his ATM card.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, a police team based on the intelligence and other input succeeded in the arrest of three accused from a car who were involved in the ATM swapping/theft cases.
Police also recovered 30 ATM cards of different banks and a swipe machine from Saleem, 31 ATM cards from Rashid and 30 ATM cards from Abbas.
During the primary probe, it was revealed that trio had a criminal past and had executed many incidents of ATM swapping/theft in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi including Faridabad, Gurugram and Palwal districts. The accused will be taken on police remand to find out their involvement in other cases, he added.
