Veteran Congress leader and former Punjab Minister Surjit Kaur Kalkat has passed away.’
She breathed her last at her Chandigarh residence after brief illness.
She was the wife of former MLA Amir Singh Kalkat.
She was a two-time MLA from Tanda Urmar a Vidhan Sabha constituency in Hoshiarpur. She won during 1980 elections and in 1992. She also remained a Minister.
Her daughter Supinder Kaur Kalkat Cheema also tried her luck in politics and contested Vidhan Sabha election on Congress ticket in 2007 Assembly Elections.
