Filmmaker Farah Khan had a playful birthday message for her cousin Zoya Akhtar, who turned a year older on Wednesday, sharing a series of Instagram Stories featuring Zoya’s brother, Farhan Akhtar.
Farah first posted a picture with Farhan and wrote, “Fru…please wish your sister a Happy Birthday.” She then shared a picture with Zoya herself, adding, “Chal…I will do it myself. Happy birthday Zoya. (Farhan made me do it).” Zoya is yet to react to the posts.
Farah is the daughter of Menaka Irani, while Zoya and Farhan are the children of Honey Irani, Menaka’s younger sister, making the three filmmakers first cousins on their maternal side.
Zoya made her directorial debut with Luck by Chance in 2009 and went on to direct acclaimed films such as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. Her last directorial project was The Archies, which premiered on Netflix on December 7, 2023, featuring Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan and other young actors.
In August, Zoya confirmed that she was working on a sequel to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, while stressing that the project would move forward only if the team found the right story.
Farah, meanwhile, is known for directing films including Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Happy New Year. She is currently active on her YouTube channel, where her cook, Dilip, also features.
