In a Press Statement, S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon, General Secretary of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has informed the media that DSGMC held a free sapling distribution camp at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on the occasion of Prakash Purab of 7th Sikh Guru, Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji who is remembered for his love for the nature and his passion for preserving it.
A large number of saplings were distributed free of cost today to the sangat visiting Gurdwara Sahib. They were also encouraged to plant more & more trees following the ideology of Guru Har Rai Sahib. It is our moral duty to preserve our nature said kahlon.
Kahlon further said more and more NGOs should come forward for this noble cause and encourage people to hold such camps He also thanked Hemkunt and Suchkhand Foundations for their love for nature in association with them, this camp has been organized. DSGMC will promote more plantations in and around historical Gurdwaras of Delhi.
According to Sikh history, The story of love with nature began when Guru Har Rai Ji as a young boy accidentally battered a flower in his garden with his Chola (gown).
He was deeply hurt at this incident and never plucked any flower or leaf in his whole life instead he became an intense lover and preserver of nature. He also established a medicinal herb garden understanding the need of people.
