DIG Nilambri Jagdale Leads Cordon and Search Operation in Balongi Area

In cognizance of the commitment of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav against Drug Abuse, SAS Nagar Police led by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rupnagar Range, Nilambri Jagdale, conducted a Cordon and Search Operation in Balongi area today evening.

Interacting with the media along with SSP Dr Sandeep Garg after the search operation, DIG Nilambri Jagdale said that a massive CASO was launched from June 17 onwards across the state to check the forward and backward linkages of the Peddlers and Suppliers.

The move aimed at breaking the Supply Chain and the Police have come to know that the Drug Peddlers had changed the Modus Operandi by hiding the Drugs at other places.

To find out the hideouts of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the Narcotics Sniffer Dog Squad has been roped in during the CASO today, she added.

She said that the CASO launched in the Rupnagar Range has a collective recovery of 10 KG of Opium, 650 Gm heroin besides other drugs like Ganja and Poppy Husk. A total of 104 Drug Peddlers have been arrested in 78 FIRs.

He said that all the Police Personnel in the Range are working dedicatedly and diligently to nail in the Drug Peddlers and Suppliers.

“We are breaking the routes of supply also be it out state or interstate,” added DIG adding that a multilevel attack has been launched that is not limited to enforcement but also roping in Civil Administration, Health Department, Education Department, Zonal Licensing Authority, Agriculture Department and GST Department for Education, Awareness, Counselling, Treatment, Rehabilitation, Checking for chalking out a joint a joint strategy to eradicate the Drugs.

A meeting in this regard of the District Committee formed under N Cordon has also been held with the involvement of the Deputy Commissioner and Other Departments, she added.

The DIG further said that the crusade against the drugs has been extended to all the hot spots, dark spots,  overlapping and vulnerable areas in the SAS Nagar district.

Further to engage the community with the efforts to shun the drugs from the district would also be made to get inputs from them about the Peddlers and Suppliers, she added.

The SSP Dr Sandeep Garg added that during today’s Cordon and Search Operation, about 19 Suspicious persons along with 14 vehicles have been rounded up whose antecedents are being verified.
