Deletion of third weapon from Arms license must, violators will lose license: DC Aashika Jain

Directing the arms license holders of the district to delete/cancel third weapon registered on their license with immediate effect, the District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that as per the amendment made in 2019 in section 3(2) of arms act 1959, no one can hold more than two licensed weapons.

She further added that the Home and Justice Affairs Department of Government of Punjab has ordered to surrender the third weapon immediately, if anybody still has registered in his/her arms license.

The District Magistrate said that it has been brought to her notice that there are still 23 license holders in the district who have not got deleted their third weapon from their arms license. Ordering them to deposit their third weapon to nearby Police Station or Gun House within a week, failing which they will have to face the action as per law, added the District Magistrate. She said that one can apply for the NOC for sale of the third weapon after producing a receipt of depositing the weapon with police station/Gun House, with the nearby Sewa Kendra.

She said that the violators would be dealt with section 17(3) of Arms License as cancellation or suspention of the Arms License.
