Contribution of Sikh Gurus cannot be repaid for thousands of years: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the felicitation programme held by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on Friday. Lauding the Sikh community at the event, the minister said the contribution of Sikh Gurus to the country cannot be repaid for years.

Addressing the gathering at the event, Mr. Amit Shah said, “Be it India’s freedom struggle, fight against the Mughals or fight against Britishers, partition or sacrificing for the country, the Sikh community has always been one number one.”

He said the whole world today is following the teachings given by Guru Nanak Dev at a time when all religions were fighting for their respective sects. He praised the Sikh community for moving forward taking both religion and Karma equally.

“Under CAA, PM Modi gave citizenship to those Sikh brothers who wanted to come here from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, or Pakistan. This Panth has done so much for the country, society, and humanity. The contribution of Sikh Gurus for this country cannot be paid back for thousands of years,” Shah said.

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee also felicitated the Home Minister at the event.

Mr. Shah said that it is only Sikh community around the world whose Gurus from Guru Nanak Dev ji to Guru Gobind Singh always raised voice against social injustice and gave sacrifices. He said that he has studied world history and there is no parelled in the world on sacrifice by Sikh Guru Sahiban.

He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji sacrificed all his four sons and still said that ‘char muye to kya hua zivat kayi hazaar’ means what if four sons have died many thousands are still alive. He said that only Guru Gobind Singh can that because he considered all humanity his family.

Lauding efforts of Mr. Sirsa, he told the gathering that he was best advocate for Sikh community and was all set to become their voice. He also honoured Mr. Sirsa on the occasion.

Earlier addressing the gathering Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared in details how Modi government and Mr. Shah have worked for welfare of Sikh community.

He said that Modi government has appointed five prominent Sikhs as Chancellors and Vice Chancellors of Central University and head of National Vocational training Institute. He said that Sikh community was indebted to Modi government for all great works done by the government.

Mr. Sirsa also disclosed that Modi government took decision to train college professors and for this it selected Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College in which Guru Angad Dev ji Teacher Training Institute was established in which more than 80 thousand teachers have got traning till date.

He also disclosed that it is only Modi government which honoured father of fibre optics Mr. Narinder Singh Kapani with prestigious Padam Vibhushan award posthumously apart from honouring Jatinder Singh Shunty, Ratan Singh Jaggi, Harminder Singh Bedi,cricketer Gursharan Singh Bedi and others.

Addressing the gathering, former MP Mr. Tarchan Singh said that this experiment by Modi government to reach out to Sikhs residing outside Punjab was a great initiative. He said that there were 18 lakh Sikhs in Haryana, 16 in Rajathan, 9 lakh in Delhi and more than 5 lakh in UP.

Earlier DSGMC President Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka welcome Mr. Amit Shah and thanked him for initiatives taken by Modi government for Sikh community.

On the occasion he also presented a resolution condemning all those who are demanding separate state and said that members of the Sikh community are always with India and there was no parallel of their patriotism. This resolution was passed by gathering with huge response.

In the function, DSGMC General Secretary Mr. Jagdip Singh Kahlon conducted the stage. He also lauded efforts by Modi government and Mr. Shah for betterment of Sikh community.
Earlier upon reaching programme site, Mr. Shah was warmly received by DSGMC officer bearers and members apart from Mr. Sirsa, Mr. Kalka and Mr. Kahlon
