Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora chaired a high-level departmental review meeting in Ludhiana on Friday, sanctioning several key development projects and issuing directives for timely completion of ongoing works.

New Infrastructure Sanctions

Arora announced sanction of a new fire brigade station at Lodhi Road, addressing a long-standing gap in fire services for the area. A ramp-equipped Foot Over Bridge (FOB) outside the bus stand was also sanctioned to improve pedestrian safety, with provision for two-wheelers as well.

The Minister approved Rs 2 crore for roof repairs in Jawahar Camp and Haibowal localities and Rs 1.25 crore for development works across three city schools.

No Shortage of Domestic LPG for Residential Consumers; Hoarders to Face Strict Action

Arora firmly clarified that there is no shortage whatsoever of domestic LPG for residential consumers in Punjab and Ludhiana, and supplies are fully adequate. He urged citizens to stay calm and refrain from panic buying or bulk booking. The Minister issued a stern warning that anyone found hoarding LPG cylinders, petrol, or diesel will face strict legal action.

While a temporary shortfall exists in commercial LPG only, essential services such as hospitals and hostels are receiving priority supply. Families organising weddings requiring commercial cylinders may contact the district administration, as special provisions have been made for such needs.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Neeru Katyal Gupta, and senior officials from multiple departments.
