Both doses of COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for pilgrims going to Pakistan: SGPC

Both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be mandatory for pilgrims going to Pakistan on the occasion of Parkash Gurpurb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. It will also be mandatory for the pilgrims going in jatha (group) to undergo COVID-19 test 72 hours in advance before going on the journey.

Disclosing this here on Friday, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief secretary Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the SGPC is sending a jatha of Sikh pilgrims to Pakistan on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary.

“Pilgrims going to Pakistan must have both doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Pakistan High Commission at New Delhi has informed the SGPC by telephone in this regard. As per the information received from the embassy, the COVID-19 test report is also mandatory for the pilgrims 72 hours in advance”, said Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.

SGPC chief secretary said that the pilgrims who have submitted their passports should adhere to these guidelines so that they do not face any problems while traveling to Pakistan.

Advocate Dhami said that a camp for COVID-19 would also be organized for the pilgrims at the SGPC office, the dates of which would be informed to the pilgrims soon.
