Bir Devinder criticizes orders of mass transfers of IAS & PCS officers in Punjab, seeks withdrawal of ‘flawed order’

Chandigarh, May 28, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The paradoxical order of mass transfers of 22 IAS and30 PCS officers has caused a flutter and deep sense of disquiet among the officers of the Punjab Government, who were doing excellent jobs at the risk of their own life.

I wonder what provoked ‘The Closet Chief Minister’ Capt. Amarinder Singh, who ordered transfers of key officers at such a large scale putting the district administrations in an indeterminate state for no tangible reason.

Even the couples have not been spared in this whimsically absurd order. Some of the officers were performing duties to the best of their abilities in the crucial areas, helping the medical fraternity as front warriors.

Instead of appreciating their admirable outstanding services they have been deracinated arbitrarily amid Covid pandemic, without pragmatic application of mind.

SAS Nagar (Mohali) seemingly is the worst affected District of this patently stupid order; where accept the deputy Commissioner almost each and every officer has been transferred out of the District, reason best known to the majesty of the Chief Minister or his ‘crony courtiers’.

Intriguingly the execution of the flawed order, issued on May 26, 2021 has been idiotically put on hold till June 5, 2021, in view of the prevalent COVID-19 situation as per the orders of the Chief Secretary to Government Punjab Ms Vini Mahajan as if the Covid-19 pandemic would be completely eradicated from Punjab by 5th June 2021

Ironically during this intervening period, the Sword of Damocles would keep hanging over the heads of the officers, who all have become the hapless victims of the pathetic randomness of the Chief Minister; I am sure that the resultant situation would imminently jeopardize the Government operation to combat COVID-19 situation, which could lead to disaster at many places and may even harm many precious lives.

Moreover some of these officers, interested either in the cancellation of their transfer or manipulating better posting, would be susceptible to ‘political exploitation’ by the ‘buddies’ close to Siswan Farm

‘The Soldier’ Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh should know and adhere to the age old proverb; that “it’s not advisable to change horses in midstream”. Therefore the administrative acumen and decency demands that the abysmally flawed order of ‘mass transfers’ must be withdrawn immediately and the officers be allowed to function diligently where they are already working, in the larger public interest.
