Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal will be holding an important meeting with the Punjab Chief Minister regarding the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal on October 14 at 11.30 pm.
“We will try out best to amicably resolve the matter with Punjab Chief Minister. We have time and again raised the SYL issue before the Centre also. We’ve right over SYL waters and we are going to claim it at any cost,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He further said that the SYL water is very important for Haryana. Now fixing a deadline to resolve this issue at the earliest has become very essential, said Sh. Manohar Lal while inaugurating the newly renovated media centre at Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh today.
During this, Transport Minister, Sh. Mool Chand Sharma, Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal and Urban Local Bodies Minister, Dr. Kamal Gupta also remained present.
Notably, Chief Minister has been making concrete and conscious efforts to resolve the SYL Canal matter. Sh. Manohar Lal through a demi-official letter dated May 6, 2022 had requested the Union Minister of Jal Shakti to convene the second-round meeting of the Chief Ministers of both states at the earliest to discuss this issue. Besides this, he had also written a demi-official letter to Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah, requesting him to organize a meeting of the Chief Ministers of both states over the same issue.
Earlier also Sh. Manohar Lal had written three demi-official letters to the Punjab Chief Minister for the meeting. However, now another positive effort would be made from his side to meet his Punjab counterpart on October 14.
Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages, Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal, Additional Director (Admn) Smt. Varsha Khangwal, Joint Director (Admn), Sh.
