Chandigarh, March 4, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) legislative wing today demanded the immediate dismissal of Minister Gurpreet Kangar and registration of a criminal case against him as well as Faridkot legislator Kushaldeep Dhillon for intimidating and harassing the prime witness of the Behbal Kalan police firing incident even as it demanded justice for the victim family.

The matter was first raised by SAD legislator Manpreet Singh Ayali in the Assembly and following this the late Sarpanch’s wife Jasbir Kaur and son Lakhwinder Singh held a press conference in the Press Gallery during the course of which Jasbir said she would self immolate herself in front of the residence of Kushaldeep Dhillon if she did not get justice in the case.

Addressing media persons, Jasbir Kaur said even though she had approached chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and demanded action against all those who had harassed and intimidated her including firing at her residence, nothing had been done in the matter.

She also exposed the claims of Kushaldeep Dhillon that he did not know Manjinder Singh Bitta, who had fired at her residence twice, by showing pictures of Manjinder with Kushaldeep Dhillon. She also disclosed that Dhillon was getting those against whom she had had registered an FIR to secure bail, adding if anything happened to her Kangar and Dhillon should be held responsible for the same.

Jasbir said she failed to understand why the Congress government was saving the police officials who had killed innocent Sikhs. She said she had come to the assembly to expose Kangar and Dhillon but the State police had even tried to prevent her from meeting the media. “I am being treated as a criminal while the real criminals are being shielded by the Congress leaders”.

Giving details of the case, former minister Bikram Majithia said it was unfortunate that the prime witness in the police firing case was subject to such mental torture that it led to his death. He said the Congress leaders got power department officials to conduct raids on the residence of Surjit and even threatened them openly through their close associates in the village.

He said the power of the Congress leaders was such that Manjinder Bitta, who had fired at Surjit’s residence for which an FIR had been registered against him, had not been arrested till yet.

Mr Majithia said the Congress government was working overtime to save police officials who had been booked for indulging in firing against innocent Sikhs. He said out of eleven police officials who had been booked cases against seven had been dropped. He said this included SP Paramjit Singh Pannu, who was close to Minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa, as well as DSP Harjinder Gill.

Others present on the occasion included Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Pawan Tinu,N K Sharma,Gurpartap Wadala, Rosy Barkandi, Harinderpal Chandumajra,Baldev Khaira & Dr Sukhvinder Sukhi.
