Now working people can also join technical colleges & can attend either in evening, night or weekend classes to fulfill their dream of becoming technocrats. Not only this, they can complete their 3 or 4 years course in a span of 4 to 5 years as they need to complete study hours.
While addressing more than 10,000 technical Educational Institutes during release of its Approval Process 2022-23 this was said by Dr. Anil Sahasrabuddhe, Chairman, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. During this occasion Dr. MP Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE & Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE were also present.
While welcoming this decision, Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI) & Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh said that this is a right step to increase the gross enrollment ratio (GER) to 50% by 2035, as targeted in New Education Policy, 2020.
Shri RS Munirathinam, Chief Patron, FSFTI & Dr. Rev KVK Rao, General Secretary, FSFTI have welcomed various AICTE’s moves including reservation of two seats per course for Covid Orphans in polytechnic & two supernumerary seats in all its institutes for “gifted and talented” students.
On the other hand, AICTE has extended two-year blanket ban on new engineering institutes till 2024. The exceptions include state government proposal to start new polytechnic in conventional, emerging, multidisciplinary, vocational areas including PPP mode; any industry having a minimum annual turnover of Rs 5,000 crore (in preceding three years) registered as trust, society, company established under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013; and philanthropical organisations existing for over 25 years and running other educational institutes having a minimum enrolment of 10,000 students and NIRF (if applicable) ranking up to 100 in the preceding year.
