Kabul, October 19, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Afghanistan have announced a seven-member squad led by Gulbadin Naib for the Hong Kong Sixes 2026, scheduled to be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground from October 30 to November 1.
The squad includes Farmanullah Safi, Imran Mir, Abdul Rahman, Karim Janat, Nangeyalia Kharote and Sediqullah Pacha, alongside captain Naib.
Afghanistan have been drawn in Group D with South Africa and Oman for the fast-paced tournament, which features six players per team and six overs per innings. The compact format places a premium on aggressive batting, inventive bowling and sharp fielding, leaving teams little time to recover from setbacks.
Naib’s international experience will be a key asset as Afghanistan seek to adapt to the demands of the abbreviated format and compete against their group opponents.
Welcoming Afghanistan’s participation, Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director of Commercial and Marketing at Cricket Hong Kong, China, said the team’s competitive spirit and attacking approach would add to the tournament’s appeal.
“Afghanistan have consistently brought tremendous energy and competitive spirit to the game, and we are delighted to welcome their squad to the Hong Kong Sixes 2026,” Bhatnagar said.
He added that Afghanistan’s attacking style would contribute to the spectacle of the competition and expressed hope that fans would enjoy an entertaining cricketing experience.
