Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Wednesday held a maiden meeting with the officials of different departments to get status of ongoing development works, projects and execution of welfare schemes across the district.
While taking information from all the departments concerned, Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh also emphasised the need to further expedite the pace of works so that the people could get the benefit of these projects at the earliest.
He also apprised the officials that he would hold such meetings every month to get the progress report as well as the action taken on the directions given in the previous meetings.
Accompanied by the Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, MLAs Bram Shanker Jimpa, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, Karambir Singh Ghuman, Dr. Ishank Kumar, Mayor Surinder Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, the Cabinet Minister took stock of works related with Municipal Development Funds, Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program-Phase-3, Grants 15th Finance Commission, welfare schemes, MP LAD projects and Punjab Nirman Program.
The Minister also asked the PWD and NHAI official to ensure timely repair and maintenance of roads amid winter and foggy season to avert any untoward incidents. He also took stock of construction of Government buildings and was informed that the construction of Judicial Complex at Mukerian, Sub-Tehsil Complex at Hajipur and residences of judicial officials at Hoshiarpur had already been completed.
The Minister also reviewed the Solid Waste, Liquid Waste management projects, Awas Yojana, MGNREGS, Water Supply, Sewerage and Sanitation related works under progress at Hoshiarpur, Garhshankar, Gardhiwala, Mahilpur and Talwara. It was also informed that the monetary benefits under Ashirwad Scheme would be disbursed shortly till the month of August 2024.
Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri and MLAs also sought status of different development works in their respective constituencies from the officials concerned and urged them to intensify the pace.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Improvement Trust Chairman Harmeet Singh Aulakh, Gau Sewa Commission Member Jaspal Chechi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rahul Chaba, all SDMs and officials of various departments.
