Language Department Punjab has announced the 10 best literary book awards related to various categories of Punjabi language for the year 2022 among the books published in the year 2021, the book ‘Udna Baaz’ by Navdeep Singh Gill, a sports writer from Barnala City, has been selected for Bhai Veer Singh Award.
Director Language Jaswant Singh Zafar announced that the awards will be conferred during the state level function of Punjabi Month in the first week of November 2024 at Bhasha Bhawan, Patiala.
The personalities of the literature, art and sports world have welcomed Navdeep Singh Gill’s book “Udna Baaz” for being selected for this prestigious award by the language department.
Pertinently, Navdeep Singh Gill working as an Information and Public Relations Officer in the Punjab Government at Punjab Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh. Navdeep Singh Gill has been writing sports columns for newspapers and magazines continuously for the last 23 years and has written 13 books out of which 12 books are related to sports and sportsmen. “Udna Baaz” is the sixth book of the Writer which was published in November 2021 by Lokgeet Publisher.

They said that Padma Shri Gurbachan Singh Randhawa is one of the greatest Athlete of the country who is a finalist of the Olympic Games, Best Athlete of the Asian Games, the first Arjuna awardee and has created four National Records within two days at the national level. They said that this biographical book is a source of inspiration for young players which has been recognized by the language department.
