PAUTA continued its protest on the 28 th day against the callous attitude of the university administration and the state government.
PAU continues to be the only university where faculty has not received revised house rent allowance, medical allowance, city compensatory allowance and gratuity. There is great frustration among the faculty and calls for a boycott of all the work is gaining ground.
Dr Mandeep Singh, President of PAUTA, addressed the dharna at Thapar Hall and said that the association is intensifying the agitation from tomorrow. Teachers of the university registered black badges protest during the Regional Kisan Mela at Gurdaspur today to get the issues of the faculty pending since 17 months addressed.
The emphasis of the state government on education appears to be a false promise as professors of India’s number one agricultural university are agitating for being paid unrevised allowances and gratuity. The Secretary PAUTA, Dr Gurmeet Singh thanked the KVKs/RRS/FASC faculty, who are also holding protest dharnas throughout Punjab.
The teachers of the university overwhelmingly participated in the rally, which was held by various university departments.
Dr Mandeep Singh, President said that the teachers are eagerly awaiting a meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, as promisey by him at the Kisan Mela at Ludhiana on 13 September 2024.
