India T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has surged 18 places to a career-best seventh position in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings after his explosive maiden century against the West Indies in Lucknow.
Iyer smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 43 balls, including 10 boundaries and six sixes, to power the reigning World Champions to a comfortable eight-wicket victory with 32 balls to spare at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Ground on Tuesday.
The spectacular innings has made Iyer India’s third-highest-ranked batter in T20Is. Ishan Kishan remains the highest-ranked Indian batter, followed by Abhishek Sharma in second place, while vice-captain Tilak Varma is ranked 10th. India now has four batters in the global top 10.
In the ODI batting rankings, India captain Shubman Gill consolidated his position at the top after scoring an unbeaten 223 in the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati. His second double-century in ODI cricket, and the highest individual score in a successful ODI chase, earned him 25 rating points and took him to a career-best-equalling 841. Former India captain Virat Kohli slipped one place to third.
West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford climbed 10 places to 37th after his 56 in Lucknow, while teenage India batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi rose eight places to 46th. Pakistan’s Hasan Nawaz made the biggest jump, gaining 62 places to reach 48th.
In the T20I bowling rankings, Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan returned to the top spot for the eighth distinct spell after overtaking Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed. Rashid has now spent more than twice as long at No. 1 as any other bowler in T20I history.
India all-rounder Axar Patel climbed 16 places to seventh after taking two wickets in each of his last three appearances. Bangladesh’s Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan moved to eighth and ninth, respectively, while Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara advanced 18 places to 48th.
In the ODI rankings, West Indies captain Shai Hope rose to sixth after his unbeaten 162 in New Chandigarh, while India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul returned to the top 10 following his unbeaten 129 in the same match. West Indies batter Amir Jangoo climbed 55 places to 55th after scores of 114 and 67.
USA’s Milind Kumar moved four places to 45th after his unbeaten 116 off 84 balls helped complete a historic 331-run chase against the UAE in Dallas.
Among ODI bowlers, West Indies pacer Jayden Seales climbed 12 places into the top 10 at 10th after taking three wickets in New Chandigarh. Australia’s Adam Zampa moved to 24th, while USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar and Harmeet Singh rose to 32nd and 53rd, respectively.
