The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the food business licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Private Limited with immediate effect after an inspection uncovered multiple serious violations of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
The food regulator said inspectors found poor housekeeping and unhygienic conditions in food preparation areas, including stagnant water, foul odour, filth and inadequate sanitation.
The inspection also revealed deteriorated food products, including tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts showing signs of fungal growth, along with rotten capsicums. Officials also found blackened and degraded cooking oil being used at the premises.
FSSAI reported deficiencies in food storage practices, including improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, unsuitable meat storage conditions and condensation dripping onto food products inside cold storage units.
Inspectors also identified infrastructure shortcomings such as refrigeration leakage, excessive ice accumulation, flaking plaster, inadequate cold storage facilities, poor ventilation and insufficient lighting. The presence of cockroaches and house flies was also recorded.
As part of the enforcement action, approximately 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food products were destroyed at the site. The facility received a compliance score of just 30 per cent, placing it in the “Non-compliance” category.
Following the inspection, FSSAI ordered the immediate suspension of the company’s food business licence and directed it to halt all food business operations during the suspension period, until further orders.
The regulator said the action was taken to protect public health and ensure compliance with prescribed food safety standards.
