Actress Ameesha Patel has questioned the practice of actors carrying large entourages during film shoots and promotions at producers’ expense, saying she hopes they maintain the same arrangements in their personal lives without someone else footing the bill.
Ameesha, who recently interacted with netizens during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, was asked about stars bringing additional entourage members to shoots at the producer’s cost.
An X user asked, “Mam what do you feel of the many stars who are carrying extra entourage at the producers cost for their shoots. Is it the correct thing to do? #AskAmy.”
Responding to the question, the ‘Gadar’ actress wrote that some female actors were “in denial of their stardom” and claimed that their entourages during film promotions, paid for by producers, could cost more than the first-day collections of their films.
She added that she hoped they would maintain the same entourage in their regular lives without a producer paying for it.
Ameesha has previously spoken about what she described as perception-building and PR strategies surrounding actresses and their stardom.
In May, she took to X to question younger actresses who, according to her, use PR teams to project themselves as the number one or number two stars despite not having a film that crossed Rs 200 crore at the box office.
“Most female actresses who haven’t even achieved one film in their career where even a single film of theirs has done even 200 cr plus at the box office are paying their PR teams to call themselves nos 1 and nos 2?” she wrote at the time.
In another post, Ameesha said actors should describe themselves as superstars only after achieving work that creates a significant impact at the box office.
“Call ur self a super star only if u have achieved any sort of work that creates history and havoc at the box office,” she wrote, while also criticising what she termed PR games around stardom.
