Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Wednesday assured Punjabi NRIs that their grievances would be addressed transparently, on merit and within a stipulated timeframe, as the state government held ‘NRI Milni-2026’ in Bathinda.
The outreach programme brought together NRIs from seven districts — Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Moga, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka and Mansa — who presented their grievances before the minister and officials from the civil and police administrations concerned.
Addressing the gathering at a hotel in Bathinda, Dr. Ravjot Singh said the programme was intended to provide Punjabi NRIs an opportunity to raise their concerns directly and enable the concerned authorities to initiate action for their resolution.
He said the Punjab Government, under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was committed to ensuring fair, transparent and time-bound disposal of NRI-related matters.
“Every issue related to Punjabi NRIs will be resolved with complete transparency, on merit and within a stipulated timeframe,” Dr. Ravjot Singh said, adding that the government was making continuous efforts to provide effective and prompt resolution of issues faced by Punjabis settled abroad.
The minister said property disputes, illegal occupation of land, documentation-related discrepancies and matrimonial disputes were among the major issues raised by Punjabi NRIs.
He said he was personally monitoring cases that had remained pending for long periods or where the hearing process had been slow. Such cases, he added, were being regularly reviewed with the concerned officials to expedite their resolution.
Dr. Ravjot Singh also highlighted the strong emotional and cultural connection of Punjabis living abroad with their homeland. He said the Punjabi diaspora had brought pride to Punjab and India through its contributions across the world.
Secretary, NRI Affairs, Muhammad Tayyab; Chairman, NRI Sabha Punjab and Divisional Commissioner, Jalandhar, Ramvir; Special Secretary, NRI Department, Amandeep Kaur; Rajinder S. Nagarkoti of the British High Commission, Chandigarh; Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Rajesh Dhiman; Deputy Commissioner Faridkot Rahul Chaba and senior officials of various departments attended the event.
MLA Bhucho Master Jagsir Singh, Chairman Punjab Medium Industries Development Board Neel Garg, Chairman Improvement Trust Jatinder Singh Bhalla, Chairman Sugarfed Punjab and Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency in-charge Navdeep Jeeda, Chairman Central Cooperative Bank Amardeep Rajan, District Trade Wing president Bikram Lovely, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Kanchan and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Lovjeet Kalsi were also present, besides other officials and public representatives.
