IT major HCLTech on Tuesday said its initial investigation has found no evidence of a breach of its systems or any impact on client engagements following claims by a hacker group that employee-related data may have been exposed.
In a stock exchange filing, the company said it was responding to media reports concerning allegations that limited data relating to its employees could have been exposed.
“The company’s initial investigation has revealed that the aforesaid data may be limited and dated to a few years back,” HCLTech said.
The company added that its review had so far found no evidence of a compromise of its systems or those used in engagements with its clients.
HCLTech said the investigation was continuing and that it would disclose any material findings emerging from the review, if necessary.
“The company considers cyber security as its top priority and remains committed to protecting the information entrusted to it,” the IT services provider said.
The disclosure comes a day after Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) issued a similar clarification following threat-intelligence alerts alleging possible exposure of employee information.
TCS said on Monday that its investigation had found no credible evidence of a breach involving its systems or customer environments. The information cited in the alerts appeared to be more than four years old and was limited to basic employee details, according to the company.
TCS also said there was no indication that customer data, customer systems or its operational systems had been affected. Its filing noted that the alleged attacker had claimed to use password spraying and multi-factor authentication (MFA) fatigue as attack vectors.
HCLTech shares were trading higher at Rs 1,371 apiece on the BSE.
