Punjab Police on Monday conducted 613 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign against gangster networks and their associates, leading to the arrest of 400 individuals.
The operation marked the 195th day of the campaign launched by Punjab Police Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the aim of making Punjab free from organised crime.
Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, carried out searches at identified locations linked to gangster associates as part of the statewide crackdown.
According to police officials, three weapons were also recovered during the operation. With Monday’s action, the total number of arrests made since the launch of the campaign has reached 55,939.
Apart from arrests, preventive action was initiated against 220 individuals, while six proclaimed offenders were also apprehended during the drive.
Punjab Police said citizens can share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 520th day. During the latest operation, 101 drug smugglers were arrested and 12.2 kg heroin, 80 kg poppy husk, 704 intoxicant tablets and Rs 2,800 drug money were recovered.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers held under the campaign has reached 75,303 in 520 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded nine individuals to undergo rehabilitation and de-addiction treatment.
