Amritsar, July 11 (Yes Punjab News)
A young man was shot dead outside his residence in Shahura village under the Lopoke block of Amritsar district on Friday in what is suspected to be the fallout of an old dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Guravtar Singh, who sustained critical bullet injuries during the attack. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to family members, the assailants arrived at Guravtar Singh’s residence and allegedly called him outside before an argument broke out.
Speaking to the media, the victim’s father Lahora Singh alleged that Gurjant Singh, Honey Dandey, along with some other persons, came to their house and asked for his son. After Guravtar stepped outside, a heated exchange reportedly took place, following which Gurjant Singh and Honey allegedly opened fire on him.
The seriously injured Guravtar Singh was immediately shifted to hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are probing whether the murder was the result of an old personal rivalry, as alleged by the family.
Further investigation is underway.
