Delhi L-G Sandhu reviews digital traffic management, jam mitigation

Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Taranjit Singh Sandhu, on Thursday, reviewed mobility and digital traffic management issues with senior officials, stressing on the need to scale up use of AI and community participation for congestion-free roads.

During his interaction with the Delhi Traffic Police personnel, the L-G underlined their critical role of in positioning the city as a global hub for investment and tourism-seamless mobility, a statement said.

In a post on social media platform X, L-G Sandhu said, “A productive session at the Todapur facility of @dtptraffic today. Reviewed progress of the Digital Enforcement framework and stressed scaling up Artificial Intelligence for 24/7 transparent monitoring and scientific management of peak-hour traffic.”

“Traffic snarls not only waste time and fuel but also worsen pollution. Emphasised greater on-ground visibility of traffic police, especially at congestion hotspots, to ensure smoother flow and act as a deterrent,” he noted.

“Underlined the critical role of Delhi Traffic Police in positioning Delhi as a global hub for investment and tourism-seamless mobility is key to competitiveness. Highlighted traffic management as a shared responsibility: Resident Welfare Associations as key partners in local traffic & parking solutions and Youth engagement for tech-driven, practical inputs,” the L-G said.

He noted that he also reiterated the commitment to transforming Delhi’s mobility through advanced technology and active community participation for a smarter and safer national capital.

Earlier on Thursday, L-G Sandhu flagged off a new fleet of Disaster Management Vehicles and a women-led scooter teams of the Traffic Police.

In a message on X, the L-G said, “Received a Guard of Honour at the @dtptraffic Headquarters in Todapur today.”

“Felicitated our dedicated Traffic Praharis, committed citizen volunteers whose invaluable support strengthens enforcement efforts and helps ensure smoother, safer daily commutes for Delhiites,” he added.

“Also flagged off new Disaster Management Vehicles, along with a fleet of women-led scooter teams of the Delhi Traffic Police. These additions will significantly enhance mobility and enable faster, more effective response during emergencies,” L-G Sandhu said.(Agency)
